Volunteers for Literacy
Many fulfilling opportunities exist for volunteers to help in the various literacy programs that
work with children, adults and/or families in Sonoma County.
The volunteer is often able to choose the day, time, and in
some cases, the area that is most convenient to their schedule. The weekly commitment can range from one to six hours per week.
The requirements to become a volunteer are as follows:
- Complete an application and participate in the orientation process;
- Maintain a negative TB test on file (if over the age of 18); and
- Submit to fingerprinting (if over the age of 18).
Age-appropriate training is available for every volunteer and each agency will provide the necessary
details for fulfilling their requirements.
The Literacy Hotline at 707-573-3399, extension 122 can provide information about the various agencies that are currently
looking for volunteers. Volunteers are desperately needed, so call today to get more information!
